If you realize failed breaks, leave the bike home until it is made other than risking.
Tires are prone to wear and tear. At times sharp objects can prick the tires and reach the tube inside. You should check the condition of your tires on getting home and before you leave. If you realize that you have a puncture, take the bike for repair before you get a flat tire. If you notice a flat tire in the morning, you will have no option other than leaving the bike home.
This must not be ignored. Make sure you are in the right riding gear all times you are on that bike. The helmet protects your head from injuries. Gloves protect from cold. The rest of the gear has its principal purpose too. Carry an extra helmet in case you meet a friend who wants a lift.
